Moving to nyc and hear that people steal bikes at a increased rate compared to buffalo ny. Hoping this thing look shitty enough for the local crackhead scene to not think about it while still looking cool to me lol. Hate the wheels. Hope fully the crackheads do to

Keep it inside when you can, especially overnight. Try to replace the skewer and seat clamp bolt with decent security hardware.

Doesn’t matter if you make it unappealing People will steal from you because they want what you have

No
Don’t ever underestimate a thief’s taste.
I live in nyc and lock up my full dura ace fixie conversion all the time. But always for short periods in heavily trafficked areas with both wheels and the frame locked during the day. And that’s assuming I can’t bring it in wherever I’m going. Any friend who won’t let me take it into their place or yard at least ain’t no friend of mine. I always try to lock it next to a bike that looks “better” than mine. 10 years no issues.
Tried this same strategy with my bmx bike if anything it put more attention on it
Idk where you live but in my city people steal “cheap/ugly” looking bikes more often because the police don’t care and the owners just replace them at low costs. I actually try to make mine look a little more expensive because kids are afraid to touch fancier bikes here.
People take stuff just because.
If I see Chris king, theives will see Chris king
It’s a functioning bicycle and it’s probably worth at least $50 somewhere. Dope saddle.
lol, no.
Sadface
Mfs will deadass take your front wheel simply because they can or need it more than you do. They’ve straight up stolen my buddy’s pedals which werent worth more than $60 total 💀
I’d steal the shit outta this bike 😂 jk. But ugly has little to do with it.
I had someone try to snag my brakeless rig when I ran eggbeaters. I kinda wish I hadn’t caught him before he got on.
People who steal bikes will think this is hot fire
That don’t matter, bad luck is what matters unfortunately
But, if you make it obvious somehow it’s a fixed gear it’ll be less appealing to steal
Someone will take it.
Nope, some tweaker will take just for the scrap.
A bike is a bike. If it works, it works. I had a 6KU way back with the same color wheels and it got stolen from my garage. Yes, the garage was open, but I didn’t expect it to get stolen the day before a hurricane was forecasted to hit us in the following few days
hella aura
Gay DAMN she’s haggered, would 100% be stolen before sundown here in Denver, likely by yours truly no less.
People would still nick it, het a heavy chain lock, 100%.
Meth makes anything worth stealing
NOPE. I’ve had way uglier stolen from my front stoop
No…
I think that you should lock it well and have a spare, just in case. Even if it is disassembled under the bed
For me: no. But then again: I lived through 2009.
