  1. Do you need to be one tooth over for the alternating chainring teeth? the outie link goes on the thicker tooth, the innie link goes on the smaller tooth.

  2. It doesnt stick on the lower way. If the chain was too narrow you could see it there. Are you sure there is no stiff link starting the … Loss of engagement?

Does this happen under load as well? Maybe it’s just kmc delivering at the lower end of tolerance while shimano’s crankset is at the upper end and it will fit itself shortly πŸ˜‰

Can we assume this is noch “Cross Chained” (i know it’s oneby, but maybe chainline doesn’t work out for some reason)

  3. It’s the β€œx” part of the kmc chain that is not compatible with Shimano dynamic chain engagement system.

You could probably find a 10sp Shimano mtb chain that would work.

  4. Get 2 pieces of tape, one on the tooth that lifts the chain one on the link that is lifted. Rotate a few times, so you rule out the chain or the chainring.

It always happens around the same tooth behind the crank arm. My guess is the chainring is slightly damaged.

  6. I’ve had almost exclusively negative experiences with KMC chains, throw a SRAM or Shimano chain on there and see if the issue persists.
