With less than a fortnight to go until the opening of Cambridge South, the wait is almost over. In this video, we’ll discuss everything you need to know about the new station, from its background and justification, to the facilities it will offer to passengers, and even when the first trains will actually run!
When the station opens, I will be visiting it to make a video for my vlogs channel here: youtube.com/@MikeWillSee
Thank you to @OnlyTheRightTrack and @fynnjonestrains for contributing footage towards this video. Make sure to check out their channels for more amazing railway content!

I can't wait for this station to open. I won't be there on open day but will go to the press event
I’m going to this station on opening day. It’ll be my first opening.
Greater Anglia shouldn’t have replaced its entire fleet. It should have kept the class 360s, class 379s and class 170s
Thats waay sooner than I thought
new network news video is a geeat way to wake up
Waiting for a hailstorm to wreck the canopy.
Fun fact: the canopy doesn't have solar panels on it, rather the canopy itself is made of solar panel!
I think I might be going on the opening day.
250 million for a four platform station 😂😂😂 personally this doesn’t sound like an achievement. Great video though
Ill be there
Will the bikes be safe if you leave one there? If the main station is anything to go by, it's a no.
Is there a connection to the busway? I couldn’t see one
Very good, but what will the main Cambridge station be called?
10% Net gain is the biggest bunch of crap.
Unlike East West Rail this station might actually have some passenger trains😂
4:38 Lowestoft?! Shurely shome mishtake?
10% biodiversity net gain means 10% over what was there previously, or 10% over building with traditional materials…?
This is exactly what Britain needed!
The South was dearly lacking in railways, I'm so glad they're finally getting some!
😒
Station looks great and well it's also great to see so many green and Sustainability parts incorporated into the construction.
I won't be able to attend sadly as I would love to be there for the opening. But I wish the station every best and great to see it's designed with future growth in mind

Taking the first northbound train
Nice!
This is great, exactly how stations should be built.
The logic behind the lack of parking area is that a, there is no space, and B, there is sufficient parking or connectivity to parking in the surrounding area, at the biomedical campus and via bus.
That “art” installation is ridiculous, and a waste of funding.
First northbound train at 7:44 am? Someone needs to work on that timetable …
So glad to be part of this project. It was a chance of a lifetime. I am delighted I grabbed it with both hands!!
Looks great. One of the best designs opened for a while. If only they could all be this nice.
Right Micheal, fancy actually counting all the bike spaces and see if you’re correct?
Now that this is nearly out of the way I hope they start investing in the roads again as the condition is some of the worst in the country.
Impressive on the one hand but all that Green stuff is delusional. How many days into construction were all the so-called benefits annulled by the carbon created? It's the equivalent of waterproofing a handrail on the Titanic as it's sinking.
A lot of potential around the Oxford-Cambridge Arc, great news!
Can’t wait for this especially as it opens the day before I turn 21, good insight as always Michael.
Does it have bike parking as well? I am from Amsterdam so i wanna know😅
I live very near this new station and plan to use it to travel to work near Cambridge North instead of using my car. Hopefully there’ll be plenty of people doing the same/similar route.
Should I be there on 28th June or 29th June.
Quarter of a billion quid? And AZ contributing say 1% of that… Are we selling our souls to the devil? Sure it's a nice station hopefully it'll be here in 100 years time, but with all the other priorities people might like to see being addressed? As a Cambridge resident I feel uneasy about this.
Cambridge South once it opens it will serve Cambridge Biomedical Campus and Addenbrooks Hospital. I really do like how the new railway station looks. And there are talks about Cambridge having a 4th railway station that will be located close to Cambridge City Airport. And to be part of the East-West rail link connecting Oxford with Cambridge and East Anglia.
