  1. I love the simplicity of your videos, and your canny observations on life!
Please keep it up – (i'd like to see more of your historic railway content)
    Thanks again,
    Chris.

  3. Very enjoyable as usual Sandy, and as you rightly say, live your life as you want. Sorry about your friend !. Glad you didn't blow up eating all those beans 😊

  4. You are a great inspiration… and kick up the back side. Since I lost my best friend (dog) a year ago, I haven't been out adventuring much. I'll get out again. My condolences to you on your loss of your lifelong friend. ❤

  5. Sorry for your loss Sandy we are all getting to that age were are friends and loved ones are passing away i lost two friends this month
Great camp mate I've not used my snugpak stratosphere for ages might have to dig it out I've been using the Alpkit tarpstar 1 for a few weeks what a fantastic budget tent wish i hada wizard tree 🍺🍺🥃🥃 atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍🐕🐕

  6. That's one of the drawbacks of growing old Sandy, going to too many funerals. I still cycle, but don't camp nowadays, my joints won't take it. You're right about doing what you want to do while you can. Before you know it you can't do anything.

  7. What a lovely video, I’m sorry to hear of the loss of your friend.
As I get older I really fancy this sort of thing.
I am a bit fed up with beach holidays in Turkey/Egypt etc and can see the appeal of a few days wild camping.
But not on a bicycle it would have to be my motorbike.
I think a few days on my own in the wilderness sounds just the thing.

  8. Ello Sandy mate, this John aka Minbound from back in the old YouTube days. Sorry to hear of your loss. I've been away from YouTube for a long time now. I've been having my own health issues over the last 14 years. I've had many heart attacks and surgeries. Last year I had diverticulitis and a perforated large intestine. They removed a large part of my colon and installed a colostomy bag for about 10 months which produce another problem a post surgery hernia at the top of my incision. In November they did a colostomy bag reversal and hernia repair. I now I need to go in and have the hernia repaired again in the near future because it has come back. I understand very well about losing people as we get older. In the last year and half I have lost my mother and father. I just happened to come across this video in my recommended and figured I give it a watch and see how you have been getting on. Good to see you're still out there enjoying natural my friend. Cheers, John

  9. A beautiful poignant film. My sincere condolences on the loss of your buddy. Always enjoy watching you camp out in those lovely woods. I agree with you about church bells and Christendom too!

  10. Lol sandy chorizo is not spoken in that way. I am Mexican from California and chorizo is said like “chooorrrrizooo” like “chore” rrrrrr ieee zzzzoooo” you roll your r’s. Sorry to hear about your friend but all good things come to an end. You will be sure to see him again. Cheers mate keep the key going KM6ODD

  11. Also chorizo and onions and the beans?!!!! What are you thinking it’s a good thing it was a solo trip as you would have blown the tent flap doors open and knock everyone dead with the crop dusting you must have done. 😳

  12. Hi Sandy and warm greetings from a very hot Malaysia 🇲🇾.
What a lovely poignant and reflective video in a beautiful location. It certainly raised a few reminders of the fragility of our existence and the need to enjoy each day that we are on this earth with its beauty all around us.
Losing lifelong friends and family doesn't get any easier with age and it does leave a big void in our lives which we have to manage; you have the right philosophy and are inspirational in your musings.
    Thank you for sharing

  13. Get the Macpac microlight tent and a MSR multi fuel stove. I cycled around the South Island of New Zealand for 8 weeks camping wild every night. Tent and stove were absolutely fantastic. Sometimes it rained for a few days straight. Just remained in the tent (you can sit upright) and cooked in the porch.

  14. Really enjoyed that thanks Sandy. Sorry for your loss. I usually take a small tarp with me, that can be set up over the tent to make a dry area to prepare food etc if it rains.

  15. Sorry for your sad loss of a dear friend Sandy. I wish you comfort in this difficult time and plenty of wood land adventures and bike rides to come.

  16. Good to see you again Sandy. I havent seen one of your vids in quite some time but I have been here for years on your channel and watch many many of them. Sorry to hear about your friend but glad to see you are still out creating great content and motivating so many others to get the most out of their lives.

Great video as always mate. Thanks ☺

  17. Brill vid about off grid cooking, Love it! But why… when you cut the chorizo and onion don't you use one of your hand made knives? Like you lovely camp knife?? Just a thought. Cheers. Graham.

  18. Hello, sorry to hear about Chris, as soon as i saw that picture at 0:20 i thought that looks like Kit Andrews, we corresponded for a short time many years ago after i sold him a couple of gold panning books, he was one of those lovely old characters now becoming an endangered species in this modern world. i never got to meet him personally as we lost touch i think he had a bad accident in his camper van. Sorry for his passing you have done him proud with this lovely tribute. R.I.P. Kit, All The Best, Bob.

  19. A lovely way to remember your old friend. And how interesting about his gold panning hobby! I always learn something new from you, Sandy. And – I am so glad you talked about the mat, as I have been thinking about buying one. I'm not keen on having to blow up a mat – not that I've even camped very often but I thought if I had one of these I might go more often! Just this evening I had decided to go tomorrow to Decathlon in Oxford as they do a much cheaper one than yours, and it's got a lot of good reviews.

  20. 😢 sorry to hear about your close friend Sandy, I also lost someone only yesterday 😢in the family. it's such a shock😭 i enjoyed listening to your advice & video tonight. ❤

  21. Sorry for your loss. Yes as we get older sadly we have to say good bye an increasing amount of times and sadly it doesn't get any easier the more times you have to say it.
Like the bike set up especially the additional mounting point for gps etc, one suggestion though, add a second set of handlebars to the handle bars extender (or whatever it is called) so that it sits above and parallel to the existing handlebars as it makes life so much easier on your back by being able to rest it and cycle at a more upright position whenever your back needs a rest. Great for long distance riding.

  22. Fantastic video Sandy. One of the best you’ve done lately. So sorry to hear of your friends passing. The way you fondly described him, i am sure he would have appreciated your camp in honour of him. Thanks for taking the time to share it with us. 😊
