What’s the real difference between PAS 015 and the newer EN1384:2023 riding hat safety standard?
Both are Kitemarked. Both accepted by British Eventing, British Riding Clubs and the Pony Club. Both are properly safe. The actual difference comes down to one test — the penetration spike test. PAS 015 drops from 75cm, EN1384 from 62.5cm. That’s about 20% tougher on PAS 015, which matters most for cross-country with studs.
For dressage, hacking and showjumping, both standards cover you properly.
