After five months travelling around South America, the adventure has finally come to an end.
From Brazil to Argentina, Paraguay and beyond, I’ve spent the last five months exploring towns, cities and places that most tourists never visit.
Now it’s time for the long journey home.
In this video I travel from São Paulo, Brazil, back to my hometown of Darlington in the north-east of England. From airports and long-haul flights to trains, grey skies and the familiar sight of home, this is the final chapter of an unforgettable adventure.
Thank you to everyone who followed the journey, left comments, watched the videos and supported the channel over the last five months.
I’ll be back on the road soon enough.
Locations featured:

Felicitaciones Stu por tus brillantes crónicas. Admiración por tu talento y valentía 💚. Hasta la próxima!!!
11 hours in the air??. Pilots must be saving fuel because how can a trip from South America to England take so long??
Thank you for taking us on your journey Stu. I think we could all feel your budgetary constraints but you've shown us all that travel is there for everyone if they approach it in the right manner. As for Darlington no one will complain if you show us some more history or perhaps a simple bike ride to a nearby village.
Thanks again mate
Thanks older backpacker for the wonderful journey you took everyone on in your relaxed and fun style. It was your random way of visiting places that I really loved. You certainly saw many places that lots of tourists would never venture to.Bravo and many thanks for sharing your experiences.
God bless and good health. Hope you have good family and friends to welcome you home and in life. Peace.
Northern Brazil is unsafe. Don't do it. Don't do it like the way you do it. Southern Brazil is like a different world.
Glad you made it back home safely Stu. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching your daily videos as you traveled around South America. I will miss them, but I’m looking forward to September and your return. You deserve a well earned break from YouTube, but would love to watch any videos you post in the meantime. Possibly a Q&A video from your subscribers about the trip? I’d love to see you wait 2-3 weeks from now, once you have adjusted back to life in the UK and then make a little video looking back on the trip to share the highs and the lows, favorite moments that stick out in your mind?
Enjoy watching the World Cup ⚽️ Go England 🏴
Cinque mesi sono lunghi fuori casa auguro un meritato riposino prima di ricominciare e auguro anche di tornare ancora in Paraguay , speriamo di vedere il suo paese i posti più nascosti signor Stu tante cose belle per lei 🎉
Thanks for all the videos Stu enjoyed watching your South American tour
Who did you fly with back to Heathrow
I noticed from your videos how railways are closing down in South America. Now that you are home I suggest you show us where railways started …… the Stockton and Darlington railway in 1825.
I'm going to miss you, mr. world champion of illegal border crossing. 😀
Welcome back to old Blighty mate, it been a blast the last 5 months following you around, you've kept us all entertained and informed, have a nice break buddy.
I greatly appreciate your reports. However it mainly confirmed that I have absolutely no interest in going there. The culture is so superficial and lacking, that Asia is still so much more interesting. Thanks chum!
It's been enjoyable watching your journey stu never a dull moment.
Welcome home stewie 👍🏻
I'm happy you've returned safely. I'm so grateful I stumbled upon your channel – watching the past few months has been a great daily ritual for me, since I just returned from a month in Uruguay/Buenos Aires late last year. But I don't understand why you take dirty laundry home. When I travel overseas (I'm from Chicago), usually for 2-4 weeks at a time, my bag weighs about 22 pounds (10 kg) when I leave and about 12 pounds (5.4 kg) on my return. I take older clothes which maybe have some stains or a small tear or hole or something, and then dispose of them as I go. Makes it so easy to get around. Over the next month, I'd love to see a few videos of Darlington, mainly the local pub and football stadium.
Are you going to Rio next time?
Hi bro, I like to see your home town and also popular cities videos in UK.
Man, take a week break, and at least make video one per week showing England tô us ❤❤
Welcome back!
Dear Stu, I really enjoyed watching your peripatetic journey through part of South America! What a treat it was. Take care my friend. You're a good chap!
Por favor, muéstranos tu Ciudad ✨️
We'll definitely miss your videos; it was a pleasure following your posts. When you can, make a video of your town, maybe a day at work with your bicycle deliveries. 😃😊🙏
Going to miss you for the next 10,weeks ❤
Stu,thanks for showing us the lesser known towns & cities in South America..I enjoyed your visit to Santos a city i first visted in 1982.How about showing us a evening delivering food on your bike?😅
Congrats!
Hope you've enjoyed your passing by here in Brazil.
Yes, Brazil had an Expeditionary Force that started their battles on Italy, late 1944. They fought on Monte Cassino (a strategic pass for the Allies to move north, in Italy), and later even captured an entire german division, General included (148th Infantry Division, consisting of 14.779 soldiers and all their vehicles, armaments, ammo and etcetera). The Brazilian Expeditionary Force (Força Expedicionária Brasileira – FEB) consisted of 25.000 men.
Some italian cities that FEB fought to liberate keep comemorating year after year the FEB work (we also feed them during war time, and they will never forgot what we've done there. Feeding citizens was forbidden by the allied forces – for a lot of reasons – but the people that was fed during those hard times still remember it to this day).
You could make videos of yourself making deliveries by bicycle.
Well done!! Back home for a well deserved rest.
You've become a pleasant company for many I feel, just sharing your views and stories… I personally would watch your videos at night while working or having dinner, so it was very enjoyable.
So, it's likely any small adventures you share, even if they seem familiar to you (being in your home town and all) are a completely new world for many… Might also take you to explore places close to your hometown you've never been to 🙂
Enjoy your downtime from youtube and see you around soon (almost 10k!!)
Will miss your videos watch every day on you adventures but you need a break sometime will just have to watch you older videos for 10 weeks but till then have a nice break will catch you when you return thanks Stu 👍👍👍👍
