We were doing some slabs / rock rolls up Big Cottonwood Canyon and made a mistake that could have been much worse.
I was fortunate to land perfectly between to small granite boulders, otherwise I would have had more than just bruises.
Any ideas on what I did wrong?
(No, I wasn’t holding on to the handle bars as I rolled. It looks like it. But my brake lever was caught in my glove)
Nearly traumatic crash. What did I do wrong?

Pretty sure you looked at the person who was “trying to help” and got target fixation.
Maybe too much brake? I’m no expert bunt in funny stuff no brake it’s better. When it’s ruff I get off the brakes and then push them hard. I’m not dragging them.
Lower tire pressure may have saved your grip and from the front washing out when you hit that rock that broke you loose.
Mainly line choice though at that speed. A few inches left to dodge that sharp angled rock that kicked you off and you would’ve been good imo.
Roll into it from farther back.
That intinal handle bar wiggle at the beginning was a big indication you didn’t have the control you needed.
On the brakes at the bottom? Once you’re halfway down looks like ya needed to just ride it out. I assume your dropper came up from the crash.
You put your front wheel on that diagonal rock. Looks like the guy in front of you went pretty far left. Your buddy at the bottom kinda sewered you too. Far left or far right front wheel placement would have been better than where you ended up. He took away half of your options. Why was he even there?

Great body position if you were aiming for it!
You started off balance in the in the roll in, didn’t really control your speed, hit a bad line that deflected your tire towards the end, sent bike the left, and you went right. That’s what it looked like to me.

Also a better run in where you have good control without that wobbling at the start. Lastly focus on getting your weight low behind the seat but not necessarily back super far. Bent legs, move yourself around the bike.
Pizzaed when you should have French Fried
Maybe you were distracted by that person talking at you.
Tell your buddy to get the hell outta there so you can focus
Mental 100%.
You went too slow and had someone distract you.
[(Front brake + slight turn)*slippery rock]/ (nerves-froward pressure) = this
What are those funny lights on the bike? Mine doesn’t have that. Maybe you got distracted by the digital display
The compression appeared to push your body forward. And that caused you to lose control.
Get off the brakes at the compression. Get you chin much lower and forward so you don’t get pitched forward with the hit. Push the bike down into the compression so you are actively resisting the compression force before you hit it.
Slipped on the off camber rock at the bottom, super clear in the second angle.
Could have avoided crashing with a different line, body positioning, less brakes, maybe better tires and lower PSI.
I hate stuff like that at the bottom of a decent sized rolls. Doesn’t add to the fun and just makes it more dangerous IMO.
I love the second angle. So many times we see footage where I *know* it’s much sketchier than it looks, but this is the perfect example. Glad your crash wasn’t worse man! 🤘
More bike than skill. Sorry brother.
Not that this was the main reason you fell, but I don’t love the “welp here we go” mentality. You either want it or you don’t. There’s no shame walking today and riding tomorrow
It was your friend standing too close and making you try to avoid.
Well, the guy at the bottom should not in the line for one and outta the way. Why was he in the middle of the line?
braking + lean angle instead of arrow-speeding through
It was the battery. Always the battery.
E Bike was the start of what went wrong
You’re in over your head
Start by telling Red pants to GTFO of the way.

I’m sure this was a big part of the problem, your buddy with his arm out like he’s trying to give you a high five as you pass or something. Sometimes the best way for people to help is to get out of the way and let you focus on the trail in front of you.
You French fried when you should’ve pizza’d
Why is he standing in the line with his hand in your face? I’d fall too that’s extremely distracting and you’ll unconsciously try to correct and avoid him.
