Thousands of local soccer fans packed pubs across Ottawa as Canada tied Bosnia and Herzegovina during its historic 2026 FIFA World Cup debut. Seven-year-old fan Beau says it is amazing to see the display for his favourite sport, while crowds gathered shoulder to shoulder inside Glebe Central Pub; Canada Post is transitioning close to half a million homes across the country from door-to-door delivery to community mailboxes. Public relations director Ariane Sauve says the move is essential after the crown corporation faced a $1.5-billion deficit in 2025; and The last two supervised drug consumption sites in Ottawa are closing this weekend after the Ontario government officially ended funding for the operations. Physicians with Ottawa Inner City Health warn the closures at the Shepherds of Good Hope and the Sandy Hill Community Health Centre will force drug use into public washrooms and alleyways.
