You’ve answered your own question. Components will never make up for out-dated geo. Buy the Polygon.
Also, you can’t upgrade geometry, but you can throw a couple of hundred dollars to fit a dropper and a cheap 1x, and then a couple hundred in a month or so to upgrade the fork and brakes.
