Tiagra 3×10 4603. just replaced the bb with a new RS500 (hoping that would fix it) on a new-to-me Avanti CX bike.
The crank does not run straight. I can’t tell if it’s the chainrings that are bent or the crank spindle or what. nothing is immediately obvious when i took the it all apart.
Something bent in crank or chainrings?

To me that looks like the chainrings and the crank are moving together, it’s hard to tell but if that’s the case I would check the BB and sure there is no gap between the BB and the shell all the way around on both sides. Was it doing this before the BB change?
Looks like the spider arms or crank spindle are bent
The chainrings might be salvageable
The chainring isn’t put on right, the little metal piece sticking should be under the crank arm itself.

Thinking maybe the spindle is bent, or at least not coming out straight. Is this something that can be reseated?
Yes. Something has bent. Take it apart and you find out.
