We spent 6 days cycling from Groningen (NL) to Kiel (DE), covering around 400 km along canals, dikes and quiet countryside roads.
A journey full of wind (lots of it 😅), ferries, small detours and unexpected encounters.

Here’s a short day-by-day overview:
Day 1 – Groningen → Emden (~70 km)
Cycling against the wind and hitting the ground….
Day 2 – Groningen → Wilhelmshaven (~70 km)
Long straight roads along canals and a nice town along the way.
Day 3 – Wilhelmshaven → Bremerhaven (~63 km)
Rain, wind from every direction and a ferry crossing to finish the day.
Day 4 – Bremerhaven → Wingst (~60 km)
Switching to local routes, beautiful countryside, lakes and a unique church visit.
Day 5 – Wingst → Kellinghusen (~75 km)
Ferry to Glückstadt, quiet backroads, a quarry lake and… pizza at the end 🍕
Day 6 – Kellinghusen → Kiel (~70 km)
Final push with some hills, festival leftovers on the road and a well-deserved bath at the finish.

A simple but unforgettable bike trip through the Netherlands and Germany.
