EuroVelo 6 Detours is a curated selection of destinations and attractions developed within the Active2Public Transport project, supported by the Interreg Danube Region Programme co-funded by the European Union.

The selection highlights attractions located in the wider vicinity of the EuroVelo 6 cycling route, which can be reached by combining cycling with public transport options such as trains, buses, or other local connections.

All featured locations are generally accessible within approximately one to two hours from the main EuroVelo 6 corridor, offering easy and sustainable opportunities for short detours beyond the cycling route.

The aim of this selection is to promote integrated and sustainable mobility by connecting cycling infrastructure with public transport networks, making a wider range of cultural, natural, and historical attractions more accessible to cyclists and visitors.

Reachable in around an hour from Mohács on the Hungarian Danube or two hours from Osijek across the Croatian border on the EuroVelo 6, Pécs is one of the oldest cities in Hungary and a 2010 European Capital of Culture, with an Ottoman mosque-turned-church on its central square, the UNESCO-listed Early Christian Necropolis preserved beneath the Cathedral Square, a four-spired Romanesque cathedral, and the elegantly converted Zsolnay Cultural Quarter built around one of the most famous ceramic factories in central Europe.
