The previous owner of my bike used duct tape as rim tape and it left this thick nasty residue on the entire rim, I’ve tried, gasoline, WD-40, and alcohol, and non of them really loosen it up, does anyone have any other ideas?
Thats going to be a hell of a cleanup job. As another user stated, goo gone or lighter fluid might work. I suggest additionally using a 3M scrubby like you would use for dishes. It might wreck the finish, but no one will see inside your tire.

Honestly, I don’t think it’s worth the effort. Just throw in a new rim strip or tape it up.

This is why the Gorilla tape fanboys are wrong. Tried it once. Once. Heat gun will help. Either way it’s gonna suck.

Ive done this job a few times. Use the tape itself. In my case it was Gorilla tape residue, so i just took Gorilla tape and press it against the tape and pull up to remove. A bit tedious but works. The last little bit left at the end got a GooGone soak then dry rag scrub.

The same kind of tape. Use the sticky side of tape to remove residue in small chunks. Next time, pull the tape off very slowly, the adhesive will come with it (mostly).

Just put rim tape over it.
