Since I was thoroughly fed up with the coffee-filter like, sealant-leaking sidewalks of my Rene Herse Umtanum Ridge, however nice the tyres were to ride, it was time for a change. As I also started to enjoy a bit more single track riding on my Bockstein Tuscus, I decided to go a little wider and ordered some Continental Dubnital 2.40, which I installed today.

On my 27.5” Nextie rims with an internal width of 29mm, the tyres measure 60mm exactly.

The tyres were a pleasure to mount, tight enough not to be sloppy, holding pressure well without any sealant. I’ve added 100mL after a few hours without any problems.

The all-black makes the setup look a lot chunkier and will take some getting used to, but I hope that improved traction on loose ground and less sealant trouble will more than make up for it.

I’ll go for a test ride soon, probably on Sunday, and see how they ride.

  1. Nice, I just put the same tires on in 650×2.2. Was kind of sad that I couldn’t order Race Kings anymore, but hoping these are comparable. Haven’t ridden mine yet either but will try them next week. Currently using 700x35mm GP5K on my other wheelset, so it will be a big difference in character. Also planning to change from a 40t chainring down to a wolftooth 34t (1x with 11-42 at the back), so getting ready for some proper riding with no more pavement the rest of summer.
