Hi y'all!
I'm on my first longer trip (2 months across Europe) and I'm using a gas stove with a long titanium spork for the first time.
I thought the spork comes in handy since it covers a fork and spoon obviously…but i found the fork part more annoying than useful when scraping the rest out of the pot! And I find myself only cooking stuff which works best with a spoon anyway. No doubt the long handle is pretty nice though!
What's your experience on this?

I only bring a long steel cocktail spoon I have a few of. The negligent weight savings don’t matter enough for me to get a camping-specific titanium spork or whatever, it just seems wasteful.
long handle spoon and a seperate fork and knive as a tourer i can afford some luxuries. I like the victorinox Tafelmesser a titanium fork and a long titanium spoon.
I do like my titanium spork (double sided, not the spoon with holes abomination), but a spoon and a utility knife are more versatile.
Universal tools as a rule don’t do any one thing well
I like to cook meat while touring so the fork part of the spork comes in handy. But yes the last bit of yoghurt is hard to get out of the tub with it.
I don’t think so. F.e. I like spaghetti for pasta, they pack the smallest, but you can’t eat them with a spork, not comfortably.
I also have a spork that has a spoon on one end and a fork on the other, but that one has some idiotic knife teeth on the fork side, hate it.
I prefer a ti long handle spoon and ti chopsticks.
When packing light, I use a long-handled titanium spoon with a small polished bowl (cause I don’t like the texture of matte titanium in my mouth).
When I’ve got a bit more weight allowance I use a camping set with a knife fork and spoon. I’ve got one in stainless steel and one in bamboo (with added chopsticks). My partner has a small set in titanium and that’s super light.
On shorter outings, I just bring a stainless steel spoon from the kitchen. It’s bigger than my titanium one, so easier to eat things that would normally require a fork, and doesn’t really weight that much.
I take a full set of cutlery with me. Nothing better than a big plate of salad, sausages and fresh bread in central europe. Knife required for slicing meat and spreading butter etc.
