Lately in my local bike park (also a city park) has been having more electric dirt bikers poach the trails. I have two concerns. 1) Safety for others. It's a commonly used park for trail runners, cyclists, and dog walkers). 2) Electric dirt bikes are dirt bikes and destroy trails that the mountain bike community volunteers to build and maintain. 3) There is a bylaw that clearly states motorized vehicles are prohibited in parks.

Should I report to Bylaws or Police or just leave it alone?

  1. Report to police immediately. This is all of the things you said. Get those clowns out of there.

Call the non-emergency police line. My city has 311 for general inquiries.

  3. Don’t worry, once licensing, insurance and registration legislation passes, and it will sooner than later, these things will all but disappear.

  4. Report them 100%, going to make the dumbass excuse that its an “ebike” when clearly its an electric dirt bike

  5. Report to the Fashion Police.

What are they thinking with those all-white outfits?

  6. We’re seeing this on local mtb/hike trails, too. And the police do get called. They’ve been very responsive

  7. Report to the police. They might not do anything, but if you all keep calling it and they log the incident it can help build a case to get something done about it in the future

Reporting it now won’t do much, although maybe they’ll increase patrols.

Next time, report it right away. Like stop immediately and call the police and say there are people on dirt bikes riding aggressively in the park. That way, there’s a chance that the cops will show up and hopefully hand out tickets.

  9. Man those stupid surrons make me angry.

Though I did see one get pulled over by the cops in my city and the cop just walked over and took the keys from it. So that made me laugh.

Frustrating how these Surron guys think that they’re “just e bikes”

They’re E motorcycles. They’re cool machines, I like them, but they don’t belong on mountain bike trials.

Police 100%. There is a big difference between e-bikes and e-dirtbikes, which is what these are.

Dirt biking in all white says everything you need to know about these goons. Absolute chodes. Report immediately.

Really aggravating. There’s tons of trail network available for these Surrons (and other emotos) that no sane mountain biker would ever touch, especially in BC.

They’re dirt bikes…they can go all kinds of very cool places, and arguably without drawing much attention doing it.

Why these people choose to flock to MTB trails now that the bike doesn’t ting-ting or brap-brap is beyond me.

Report them as emotos. They’re the ones ruining it for responsible emtb owners/riders nationwide

Maybe start with official notices posted then move from there unless it’s getting really bad

They have motors. They are motorbikes. Call the cops!!! AND CC your local council person, state forestry office… everybody!!

    police report.

even if they don’t do anything about it, making a report gets logged. if everybody reports it they can’t come back and say “it hasn’t really been a problem, we’ve had very few reports of e-motos causing problems”

  18. Yes you should report it. These guys are damaging the trails and ruining them for everyone else

If it was me I’d reported before the forest service turns it into a wilderness area

I’m 99% dirt bike and 1% mtb. Get these losers off the trails. I feel for them, it’s hard to find places to ride, but that doesn’t mean they have any right to feel entitled to mtb/walking/hiking trails. They’ll tear it up and do nothing to maintain it. . Being hard to find a place to ride does NOT make it okay in any way.

People need to buy the toys that suit the place they play. If there’s no atv trails, don’t buy an atv. If there’s no mtb trails, don’t buy a mtb. If there’s no dirt bike trails….

I’ve lived all over the country. I have changed toys in each state to suit what ways I have to available to me to play.

  21. Report. Only way to try and stop him from telling his friends how cool it was

  22. I ride a proper class 1 e-mtb and I would ask them to leave. Those Sur-ron style e-motos can be ridden where dirt motos are permitted.

In general people: when you see things that screw up your community call the freaking police and stop twiddling your thumbs.

  24. Yup these are electric motorcycles. People need to start learning to differentiate, and yeah I’d report it

  25. Watching the slow death of mtn biking as pedal bikes become a minority and lose their trails.

  26. ToenailTemperature on

Those guys are being assholes. Absolutely report them.
There are dedicated ohv parks for dirt bikes.

  27. Call – the more calls the more likely something can be done if something bad happens
