  1. Thanks.
Beat UAE and in a 21 day tour it may be possible to beat Tadej. Visma has been preparing for the match up. The big question is have Bora and Decathlon also been focusing on how to wear down UAE in the early stages of this year's Tour de France?
Could Remco be working on his climbing with a sports bicomechanics specialist? The usual estimate is 6 to 12 weeks to effect a signigicant change in an endurance athelete. It has been 6 weeks since Remco last raced and there are 4 more weeks until The Tour. Food for thought.

  2. I was just looking at RBH preliminary startlist for TdF. Is it confirmed that Evenepoel will be the GC rider? If not, I think we have some indications that they have decided to support Lipowitz instead. A wise move in my opinion.

  3. Chris. Yesterday (around the same time you were recording this post) Johan Bruyneel said on his show: "I would even dare to say I had a small part in the coaching role of that Vuelta of Chris Horner (2013)." I'd love to hear your opinion on this claim Chris.

  4. The other thing about being Remco (or any GC contender) is if there are any visible signs of weakness in a race, everyone is watching you. You will be attacked as soon as anyone notices. That's going to complicate the attempt to correct a problem with food.

  5. Primoz is joking about riding another 10 years after talk of him retiring this year. If he doesnโ€™t find form this summer, it might be a farewell season.

  6. Thanks for the insights Redneck. You took your teammates to the Stanley Cup finals ? That's friggin awesome! This old gray chesterfield still follows Mt. bike, Cross and Road racing so I actually applaud it when riders switch it up. My favorite current riders are all Cyclecross racers who race all 3 disiplines (MVP, Tommy P and on the ladies side Puck). I agree you have to be uber focused to podium TDF. I love the race and have followed it for over 40 years. But I always find myself cheering for the Darkhorses who don't always practice the best tactics. LOL sometimes Wildhorses need to run free! Thanks again and Cheers!
P.S. maybe some insights on the nuances of staying out of crashes?

  7. Chris comment on how Tadej does not actually have the highest VO2 max of all the pros but does have a very rare ability better than anyone to rapidly get rid of lactate buildup. He is vulnerable to other riders maxing out his energy by exhausting him as Van der Pohl has done. But if they try to break him by repeated close proximity efforts he will win every time

  8. My personal experience here is that rest much like sleep are viewed with mostly the wrong perspective. They are essential but viewed as weak. We struggle with knowing how much we have in the tank and generally only focus on outputs.

  9. Remco Cannot beat Tadej or Vingegard with conventional tactics he is however incredibly good on his own on the flats he needs to use his aero advantage its the only one he has over them. TT and climb as well as he can, but attack on a stage which is not expected if he has 20 sec on flat roads on Pog and Ving they are not catching him unless they have their leutenants. The ONLY rider to catch Pog has been Remco in a classics race once because he was faster on the flatter bits. I see no other way, NONE.
