  1. When you speak to us you should be relaxed and off your cycle. Not out of breath and panting . I'm not paying my license fee because of you and your editor

  2. What’s difference is it gonna make that’s one road probably a trail and all the nob head that ride around in groups won’t use it they are entitled again nob heads who don’t follow road rules take up the whole land when it’s supposed to be single or tightly double file I love riding but too many nob heads give the rest of us normal people a bad look

  3. Pity that nobody goes to such expense for the less able-bodied. Having smooth pavements (in Colchester, and elsewhere I'm sure) would be marvellous, as would be cyclists using cycle lanes or special roads instead of pavements where they aren't supposed to be

  4. Getting this in before the cycle-haters arrive!

Road tax was abolished in 1937. What drivers pay now is Vehicle Excise Duty, banded on emissions. Bikes emit nothing, so they’d sit in the same £0 band as a brand-new EV. Roads come out of general taxation, which cyclists pay too.

Cyclists aren’t required to carry insurance for the same reason pedestrians aren’t: the damage potential isn’t comparable to a tonne of metal at 30mph. There’s some risk, but we don’t insure walking either.

And yes, cyclists break rules. So do drivers who speed, amber-gamble, and check their phones. The problem is human behaviour, not the vehicle.

  5. These are awesome as long as they are not replacing roads meant for cars.
Intense lobbying exists from Anti-Car groups who use statisticaly false narratives to promote removal of cars which are then returned 10 years later

A small sample of Pedestrialization failures.

Removing cars is always a huge gamble that adversely affects everyone but the anti-car groups.

  6. As much as the cyclist in me says this is a good move, I am a bit miffed as a motorist that these same roads are brought it yet current ones in Cambridge are left to ruin. I feel the solution is having both in the same road, with safety measures, and keeping that one road in check, not just building more.
