Good morning everyone 👋🏻 I am looking to invest in a better bike because the one I recently purchased just isn’t good for the hilly region I live in.

  1. Is this bike worth $450? Or should I negotiate down? I don’t want to lowball the seller, but also don’t want to overpay.

  2. Would this be good for daily travel up steep hills? Around 10-12 miles per day.

  3. What should I test before buying ?

Thanks guys your help has been amazing 🫶🏻

  1. Definitely no, worth closer to $45 and I’m not even exaggerating by that much. That’s a $100-150 bike and that’s pushing it

  2. Brand new it was worth that.
Looks like it’s been stored outside in the elements. Tons of rust on the chain and the fork.
This bike has not been well cared for. Hard pass.

No. Absolutely not. You can expect to pay $100-300 minimum on top of their asking just to get back to decent shape (going off the condition of the chain), so you should be asking yourself “is this bike with $600-800?”
