Sure, if it saves you like two or three camp sites it can pay for itself. The accommodations are obviously incredibly variable.

Not the US but I met a French cycle tourist who had used it in the UK. She used it a few times and it paid for itself. If you are visiting a high cost of living country, its probably worth it.
