From the Swiss Alps to Vienna 🚲 | 5 on Bikes

Two years ago, we followed the river Rhine from its source in the Swiss Alps all the way to the North Sea 🚲.

1170 kilometers.
Five people.
One unforgettable adventure.

Ever since returning home, one question kept coming back:
Where will we go next?

In this video, we finally reveal our next family bicycle expedition:
5 on Bikes – Expedition Inn & Danube.

This summer, we will follow the river Inn from its source at the Lunghinpass near Maloja through Switzerland, Austria and Germany until it meets the Danube in Passau. From there, we’ll continue all the way to Vienna 🚲.

But this journey is about more than cycling from A to B.

While planning this expedition, I became fascinated by rivers and watersheds — and by the idea that tiny streams high up in the Swiss Alps eventually connect entire countries, landscapes, and seas across Europe.
Switzerland is often called “Europe’s water tower” because so many important European rivers either begin here or are fed by water flowing down from the Alps.

And hidden in the mountains of Graubünden lies something especially unique: the Lunghin Pass, a rare triple watershed where water can begin three completely different journeys across Europe.

Somehow, there is something incredibly poetic about that 🤍
