Rouen is one of the most beautiful cities in France and in this travel guide we’ll show you the best things to do in the city, as well as some hidden gems and where to eat. Once the second largest city in France, Rouen has been shaped by the Gauls, Normans and Vikings and its grand gothic cathedral was even the tallest building in the world for a brief period during the 19th-century.

The capital of Normandy can actually be visited as a day trip from Paris as it’s only an hour away by train and in this video we’ll suggest the perfect one day itinerary, taking you to highlights such as Rouen Cathedral, the 14th-century Le Gros Horloge, and to the Christmas market.

  1. Hi ! too bad that you didn't see Le Gros horloge and the Abbatial Saint Ouen ! indeed I am working in both of them and they are open, it is just that according to renovations, the entrance are for Le Gros Horloge next to Starbuck, inside the Gallery, and for the Abbatial it is on the right side of the church ! I hope you can see theses gorgeous monuments next time you come in Rouen 🙂

  2. I'll be visiting in April, can I ask a few questions? About what time does it get dark in early April? Do many shops & restaurant employees often speak English? Should I bring Euros or will credit cards be okay? What street/square is a good choice for night life in the evening? We're staying at the Mercure Rouen Centre Cathedrale Rouen. Nice video, thanks in advance.

  3. Parts of the windows in the Church of St Joan of Arc are 16th century windows that were saved from the former church of Saint Vincent that sadly was destroyed during WWII, all that remains is the doorway.

  4. Jean d'Arc wasn't actually captured by English forces. She was captured by the Burgundians, who eventually sold her to the English for 10,000 livres tournois, a really high ransom, as the typical range for high nobles was between 5000 and 10000 livres.

  5. Really,Rouen is very beautiful city in Northern France, truly a truly amazing this city the building very classic and artistic, very suitable for family travel a must have on your 2026 travel list, thank you for sharing and preview about Rouen series Sophie ❤❤❤❤❤❤
