What began as a normal summer bike night, quickly turned into something none of us will forget.
We rode the new Indian Chief Vintage and Indian Challenger to the bike-night, and when we departed, it was the hottest day of the year, but as we got closer, rain drops started to fall.
As other riders gathered at The Carington Arms, a freak thunderstorm rolled in, bringing hurricane-force winds, torrential rain, hail, flooding, and chaos that stopped everything in its tracks.
Trees came down. Roads flooded. Cars got buried. A few bikes narrowly missed being hit by the falling tree. Riders sheltered wherever they could, as one of the most violent storms we’ve ever experienced tore through the area.
This film follows the night as it unfolded — from the atmosphere before the storm, to the moment everything changed, and the ride home through the eye of the storm!

  1. I've been riding for 40+ years and I've learnt one thing, I always carry lightweight overtrousers for rain, water proof gloves as spares and never ride without a waterproof armoured jacket.

  2. I'm from Argyll & Bute Scotland. You get used to it cos that's what its like here. I always take my waterproofs in my tail bag as you never know when you're going to get a down pour. The met Office is not always right. Take it you guys will have waterproofs in your bags from now on (lol). Nice tank bag on the indian. Where did you get it? Could do with something like that for myself.❤❤❤

  3. Yep, welcome to a typical Sydney summer storm. This happens on most really hot and humid days here – so next time you experience this in the UK, you should expect something like this. On really hot days, I always have my rain gear with me.

  4. Apparently Michael Fish has more explaining to do!!!…..

and that was definitely a category 0.00000003 Hurricane!!….

Michael Bay movie THE BIKE NIGHT ARMAGEDDON due for release next summer staring Darcy and the Old Man!!…

    Can they save us!!…👍👍😂😂😂😂

  5. Brilliant. The liveliest I’ve ever seen the two of you. Such colourful language. 😂 an enjoyable video. Thank you for sharing the drama.

Glad to hear no one was hurt and that you boys made it back safely.

Have you ever had the opportunity to ride in a S. E. Asia tropical rainstorm? It’s an experience not easily forgotten. Especially on a Bobber with no Mudguards. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

  6. The hailstones were impressive especially in late May, one lesson learned , even on the hottest day of the year with clear blue skies, always take your waterproofs with you on any ride in the UK, you can guarantee it will chuck it down at some point 😅

  7. As this was filmed in May it's technically the joys of an English Spring. I reckon this video will get a lot of hits 🙂. Darcy was very brave! The only time I can remember worse was 1987. I wasn't riding then. I left home that morning to drive to work, not knowing quite how bad things had been overnight. I could get no more than a 1/3 mile, in any direction, before I met a downed tree. I think I got a couple of days off work, which was nice!

  8. Having all these saddlebags on the bikes and no decent rainsuits is just stupid. I even have some leather soft lowers for the front engine guards in a saddle bag to keep the lower legs legs and shoes dry. But hé…. brains comes with age folks ! 🤣😂

  9. This is very interesting. I’m from the South Eastern part of Texas where bad weather is common and we have had severe hail and wind lately that is far and beyond that of what we are used to

  10. Glad you both made it back safely.

I’m a wheelchair user that’s just started using a Can-Am Spyder; I was going to go to my first meet at Ashby on that night; but changed my mind at the last moment, so glad I did!

Might see you both there in future 🙂

  11. Mercy, so glade you made it back alive. That tree…wow! A miracle of grace that day. Any tornados? Sounds like weather in the central US. In Missouri and Kansas….watch out for deer and funnels clouds on your bike! Glade you lived to tell the tale guys.

  12. Wow 😮 that was horrific, and to think some people say nurses have it tough !
Glad you both survived what looked like the end of the world , scientists will be debating this cataclysmic , once in a lifetime event for years to come .
The history books will call this “ the day some bikers got caught in a sudden downpour “
    😂😂

  13. I hate riding in the rain these days. Rode all the way back from Scotland to the south coast in the rain years ago. Just laughed it off! Not now, though, if someone puts their windscreen washers on in front of me, I'm off. 😂

  14. Glad you made it home safe! I've gotten stuck in a couple storms riding before and nothing terrifies me more than lightning right overhead.

  15. Glad everyone's ok. Looks like the Carrington Arms needs to get some sandbags! I actually really enjoyed that video (not being funny getting my entertainment from other people's misfortune) but it was a story worth telling your fans! and that's why us Brits are so obsessed with the weather, because it's so changeable and therefore so damn hard to predict! Thanks, Phil, North Wales.

  16. Glad you are enjoyed day out and about on your awesome Iron Horses👍
Exept for the hailstorm almost like a monsoon 🌧️ afternoon here in the Land of Smiles, lads.
