I spent 4 hours waiting for a delayed train in Liechtenstein. I went to talk to the only other person waiting with me. As I said "Hello", he played one finger onto his lips, and shook his head. He was a monk who had clearly taken a vow of silence. We didn't speak any further. A very long four hours…
All across Lichtenstein
Glad you're calling them Railway Stations, In the UK americanisation has taken over and they incorrectly call them train stations. They even refer to train carriages as coaches ; ugh !
"Day one" lol
The lack of proximity to Vaduz is nothing compared to Steeg-Gosau (14 km from Gosau) or Golling-Abtenau (19 km from Abtenau). ΓBB's station naming is just weird sometimes.
Hilti: What happens in 1941 stays in 1941 π
Can you make a new video in Luxembourg? π
Frodo and Sam crossing half the Middle Earth to bring the ring to Mordor was nothing compared to this epic travel in Liechtenstein.
Tremendous, finally no commuter hassel any more. Thanks for travelling Tim
Great video Tim. Have travelled that line myself in 2018 when I stayed in Triesenberg, Liechtenstein. I had previously been staying in Zurich and to get to Liechtenstein by train I had to travel to Feldkirch in Austria first because as you know no international trains stop in Liectenstein. I caught the local Austrian Railways service from Feldkirch to Schaan-Vaduz. I could have done it by the bus service connection from Switzerland which, as you referred to, is excellent but being a train person I wanted to do it by rail. At one point during my stay I used the same train service to travel into Buchs, Switzerland. So well organised in that part of the world.
I visited every train station in Germany, Austria ,and swiss,Italy..just because I involved in model trainβ€π π
Scored a point in pub trivia for knowing Vaduz tonight.
Explained that I knew it from watching this video!
Nice lunch bag from BΓ€cker Ruetz π
The Lichtenstein Bus is operated by the SwissPost (PostBus) by the way π
It's all just a matter of Liechtens-time
"Now that is a man with a sense of timing." indeed.
What a gigantic Empire compared to Sealand!
In Europe, we have two rules:
Rule 1: Do not ask women their age. Rule 2: Don't ask anyone with a German-sounding name what they were doing in the 1940s.
They said it couldn't be done.
Fun fact, since Liechtenstein doesn't really have their own railway company, all of the passenger signs and information on the platforms seems to be directly taken from austrian ΓBB
Another fun fact: Austrian influence on the railway seems to go as far as even all of the station signs are directly following the austrian design.
5:11 ΒΌ of Liechtenstein's trainstations are abandoned.
Have you heard about the plans for a Liechtenstein S-Bahn network?
Now do France!
Good topic.
