  1. Very difficult to tell visually when clean, here it’s impossible to tell IMHO.

Check chain wear. If it’s well past 0.75% the cassette probably needs to go when you swap to a new chain.

With that being said, dropping your chain is not necessarily a cassette wear issue unless you also have ghost shifts and other such symptoms when in the middle of the cassette. I’d check the derailleur limit screws first, those can back out over time.

Cassette is mint. When the teeth go from square to round then it’s fucked.

That cassette looks pretty mint still. I would double check chain stretch, derailleur alignment, B screw and high/low stop adjustment. I had a strange skipping problem a while back that would come and go randomly and it turned out to be a broken chain link that took me forever to find.

  4. Remove chain and back wheel. Deep clean cassette, really get in there. Install wheel. Install new chain. Immediately clean new chain before riding to get the storage film off. Dry and add chain lube. Ride 5 more years.

Have you tried cleaning the cassette and the chain? Obviously not. Just fucking clean the drivetrain.

  6. Looks fine to me. I’d suggest removing it and cleaning it really good before installing a new chain. I put mine in the dishwasher lol.
