VeloDunajec & Velo Czorsztyn
The cycling path leading from Zakopane to Tarnów is primarily the famous VeloDunajec route. Along the way, it merges with the incredibly scenic Velo Czorsztyn trail, which runs right along the shoreline of Lake Czorsztyn. This combination is widely considered to be the most beautiful cycling route in Poland, offering mostly flat, well-paved paths with a few notable exceptions.

The Falsztyn Climb and Descent
The section with the sharp elevation change and the stunning lake view is located near the village of Falsztyn, overlooking Lake Czorsztyn (Jezioro Czorsztyńskie). Among local cyclists, this famous segment is simply known as the “Falsztyn Climb” (podjazd w Falsztynie) or the “Falsztyn Descent” (zjazd z Falsztyna).

The “Rollercoaster” Gradient: It is one of the steepest sections on the entire route. You face a short but aggressive, sharp climb (where many casual cyclists choose to walk their bikes). Once you reach the top, the road plummets into a steep, fast downhill.
The Red Asphalt: Because cyclists can pick up a lot of speed on the descent, the most dangerous sections and sharp, 180-degree hairpin turns are paved with distinct, high-grip red/pink asphalt. This serves as a visual warning to squeeze the brjakes.
The Breathtaking View: The effort of the climb pays off at the crest. As you begin your descent toward the village of Frydman, the landscape opens up to a spectacular, postcard-perfect panoramic view of the blue lake below, rolling hills, and the distant Tatra Mountains in the background.
