No, this isn't a brand endorsement. Actually, my key freezes in the lock so bad when it even goes all the way in, and the combo wheels sometimes really don't like to turn, which is obviously a problem.
This is for keeping an 800 dollar bike for 6-10 hours a day, 5 days a week, in a very high-risk city (Kelowna, Canada) with thieves who use mostly bolt cutters.
I am considering getting rid of the massive heavy chain for a HipLok D1000, but it's expensive.
What do the professionals think?
Thank you 😁

I’d say that’s overkill, but maybe not in Kelowna.
Personally I’d probably get a shittier looking bike and just use the chain.
Well you could get angle grinder resistant u-lock
Your bike’s going to get cut up and your locks stolen…
I personally use the kryptonite chains because a lot of bike racks where I live, you can’t fit a U-lock through it, your frame, and a wheel. You can either put it through the rack and frame or rack and wheel. Id rather bag 2 heavy chains around that I can fit on any bike rack.
I think three locks is about two locks more than a regular bike thief would care to mess with.
Do you park your bike next to other bikes? Are you locked better than them?
You already know how to make it better which is by purchasing a anglegrinder resistant lock. The D1000 and DX1000 are about as good as you can get based on the review I saw where they compared all sorts of “Grinder resistant” locks.
But yea, two chains and a U Lock is pretty good. Get as many of those locks attached to the rack as you can because if they compromise the one lock that attaches it to the rack then they can just walk away with the bike and work on the other two locks later.
Post a picture with the whole bike and rack so we can see it put together.
I think you’re good. Just park next to someone else’s e-bike with one lock and you’re good lol
As someone who does 3 locks, I love it!
The rack is the weak spot
