Hey Friends, is this bike worth $300?

I am wanting to get into cycling and would love to secure a vintage, entry level bike that I could invest in and work on throughout the next few years. I would be using this bike for overall fitness and commuting. Would love to get going on some long rides on the weekend as well!

I am about 180cm in height so I am assuming this 54cm would work. Will def do a test ride before

I think as a commuter / entry bike that’s decent. I wouldn’t spend a lot to upgrade it though as it’s old tech- you’ll be limited by headset type, rear wheel hub for increased gearing and brakes are rim only.

Only caveat would be if the drive train (eg cassette, chain and chainrings) is worn out that may cost a few bucks to get some new stuff on there.

Finally 54cm for your frame may be a touch small, but wouldn’t know without riding it etc

  2. Caads are the gold standard for old road bikes. This would be a great bike to get into cycling. 54 is a bit small for 180cm but in a good way. Allows a good amount of adjustment from the saddle and stem to get good positioning. $300 (cad?) is an alright price. The bike is clearly used and could use some maintenance. Gotta factor in what components and consumables are needed to get it back to good condition. I’d say $250 cad is more realistic. That

  3. I would avoid it. The stem is old and hard to replace if it doesn’t fit you
