Can someone help me understand why Rubber N' Road kit is so expensive? On Nero show, Jesse walked through the economics of mass producing a skin suit. It's a combination of a standard bib, and a standard jersey. So I'm trying to understand why this brand is selling an $800 skin suit and if it's worth it? Because it honestly looks like a rip off but want to hear from someone that's spent the money on it

  1. SolitaryReign on

No, it’s a rip off. Along with them being total frauds and harping on about being for the ‘community’.

  2. It is not.

There is absolutely nothing unique about this, except that it’s made in the US. The materials are mid tier, used by everyone in the industry (I work as a cycling apparel designer, I know their mills).

Design, execution, etc, all extremely commodity level. Buy literally any other kit unless MIUSA is super important. Their marketing is good, the aesthetics are super clean, but it’s outrageously overpriced even for MIUSA kit.

  3. If you need a skin suit buy Nopinz. They’re very popular in the peloton. During time trials one of my favorite games is to see who has a Nopinz skin suit that has been branded to look like their team’s sponsor.
