  1. I have been stating this for years now. Why do race organisers only have the race neutralised at 5km in when the majority of teams and riders do not sprint which creates a very very dangerous situation every single time. They should neutralise the race from 10km out so that sprint teams can set themselves up in peace and avoid the dangerous bunch sprints.

  2. I don't understand the peloton's point of view. A cycling course most often has dangers, but riding slower decreases the risk of crashing while also decreasing the risk of victory. Why can't each rider ride as fast as they feel comfortable riding, and let riders who want to gamble for the win take the risk and push towards the end? Having raced in amateur-level races where we share the roads with motorized vehicles, the trade-off is already there: I can cut onto the lane of oncoming traffic for an aggressive corner at the risk of getting slammed by a car coming the other direction, or play it safe and stay at the back of the peloton on the right hand side. It's part of the tactics of the race.

  3. In the good old days the breakaway would have 12 mins on the chasing peloton. Guys would be chatting, the sign would come out saying this is the gap, and within 10k the gap would be down to 2 mins with about 10k to go. Way better. Can nobody do the math any more?

  4. sprint stages are very stupid, i never understood the point.. you ride in a bunch for 4h and then 3-5km race begins… why dont just do 10km race instead?

  5. Could there also have been a backwind? That would certainly not help the peloton. As we saw there was a fragmentation at the top of the peloton with only a little bit of the bunch actually making it in front. It was weird but I like it.

  6. Absolutely horrible decision on TruTV’s part shoving the French Open in a spot that 2 out of 3 weeks was reserved for this race when the final week is the most crucial.

I get TNT Sports doesn’t control TruTV but it’s just frustrating.
