  1. I have 2 of these exact racks in my house. They’re fine.

One was holding my 35lb MTB for quite a while before I got a second rack set in my garage.

Nah mate, that’s going to affect the structural integrity of the building and it will collapse after a while 🙄

  3. I personally wouldn’t ever leave me bike outside like that unless I knew my balcony was fully covered.

  4. I have that exact same stand but inside. It hasn’t fallen over at all.

I’d be more concerned about the bike being outside and exposed to the elements.

Is is wet and humid where you’re at?

Could someone climb balconies and grab the bike? If this is even remotely possible, I would perhaps think about chaining it to something not as easy to grab.

Throw a cover on it to protect from the elements and to obscure it from eyes

Yea, that looks tricky. Just saying because if a strong wind blows through that area, stuff might shift. I would consider a bar directly from the top ceiling to the floor of your porch. Sort of like a bathtub curtain type bar, but something that reaches the distance between floor and ceiling in that limited area. With that idea, and your bike propped up as in photo, it would give more stability to tie a strap or cord around and not have to worry about strong gust winds or entire bike falling.

Theres a chance that the rotational forces will get disturbed in the wheels if you leave it there for more than a couple of days

There’s waterproof bike covers that should make this setup work pretty well

  11. Yeah. Just keep the sun off it if you can to protect the seat and tires. I’m assuming the rain also won’t hit it there.

  12. If fall the main concern. Put the potting mix at the stand inside part. Any weight better than nothing.

If someone climb to 4th floor balcony for a bike I guess he really want it

  13. I store my bicycle exactly like this in the balcony (5th floor), but I also use a cover. We have high temperatures, high humidity, and seasonal strong winds here. So far, so good, it fell down twice tho, because of the strong winds.

It looks ok. Maybe put a cover over it and find some way of anchoring the upper portion to the wall.

If you’re using it everyday and relatively good about wiping and Iubing your to gain every week or two, the weather shouldnt be an issue.

But if you don’t clean and lube your chain regularly and ride every day, you’ll likely rust out your chain and other stuff.

It’s really about how much attention you can give it.

I feel like this stand takes up 60% of the same space if the bike was not in the stand and I don’t feel like it’s worth it to even have the stand. Seems like a big hassle for little gain.
