I'm starting a new job and it's just far enough that walking would be a pain, but flat all the way so biking sounds like a good option. I haven't biked in a long time and could use some advice.
I have the bike I used to ride to school in the late 90s https://imgur.com/a/P7stoiC but I feel like there are probably better options, and this one would need some TLC to be useful. If I'm going to have to spend money I think I'd rather get a new bike instead.
I'm thinking of getting something like this: https://www.evocycles.co.nz/Product/578136/evo-ophelia I'll admit that the looks are part of the decision, but I also like that the seat has springs for comfort and that the chain is covered to keep my clothes clean, and the more upright position.
Since I don't know anything about bikes, I'd love to know if this makes sense, or if I'm making a mistake?

Point blank, your old bike is better than what you’ve linked. Fix that up. That bike is infinitely serviceable and would make a great commuter.
