Is the Zwift Ride the future of the indoor smart bike? And if so, is it good for consumers? I dive into everything you need to know about the Zwift Ride, after a bunch of usage.

After years of rumors, pivots, and do-overs, Zwift has finally announced their much-discussed indoor bike. At least, depending on how precisely you define an indoor bike. But no matter which definition you use, this is going to significantly shape the direction of the indoor cycling industry, just as Zwift did when they launched the Zwift Hub nearly two years ago.

The new Zwift Ride combines a new Zwift indoor “frame” with the Wahoo KICKR CORE + Zwift COG trainer, to make a one-stop shop option for getting on Zwift. Within the Zwift Ride product, you can literally see years of Zwift history and direction changes unfolding like layers of rock. It’s actually kinda fascinating.

But more fascinating than the history lesson though, which I’ll save for another day, is riding the thing. And I’ve been doing so for more than a month now, putting it though its paces to see how it handles across a wide variety of riding. Not just me, but my wife as well – helping to validate whether or not Zwift’s one-size-fits-all design can properly accommodate both a tall rider (me), and a vertically challenged rider (her).

  1. I am actually the person getting into cycling via this, although, i caught the bug initially in 2020,, Im no longer in a very cycling safe place. I would prefer real shifters still 😉

  2. Do you and your partner both pay a Zwift subscription? It doesn’t make any sense to me to have one Zwift Ride and pay 40€/month just to the able to share that with my wife… Others have family subscription offering at least…

  3. You should be able to use your iPhone to connect all those Bluetooth connections and use AirPlay to connect to your Apple TV. So that would be a work around.

  4. This bike and system is awesome but real expensive. i dont like the buttons i would rather have it feel more real, and it is expensive:( 1300 plus whatever it cost to use the app. In a world where indoor bikes is becoming more popular and cardio fitness is very important

  5. I got this a few days ago, and I gotta say: the sheet guide they give you for measurements and stuff were completely off for me. Like none of the adjustment levels were right for my height. Idk if it's cause I'm used to a different body position from mountain biking or what, but I basically had to set it up completely by feel and comfort.

  6. I use TrainerRoad. I'm not interested in the Zwift app but I do like the Zwift Ride Smart Frame. I'd like to use that frame with my Tacx Neo 2T with TrainerRoad. Will that combination work? Will both ERG and Resistance mode work (for sprints) work w/ TR? Note, under the Tech Specs, the Zwift Ride Smart Frame webpage states: Compatibility-Zwift Ride Smart Frame is only compatible with Zwift.

  7. Just ordered mine…….cannot wait to replace the beater Giant Contend 3 I am using, which shifts at will. Could have paid $100 to service it, but put that $$ towards a bike dedicated to Zwift.

  8. Genuinely the worst product I ever have bough. Non-stops issues with it, uselss customer service, had this thing for almost a week now and it's literally worked for 1 hours. Complete nightmare from delivery through to set up and connection. Completely useless, avoid at all costs!!!

  9. Im a newbie looking at buying at set up to use zwift but unsure what set up to buy. Should I buy kickr roller, kickr core or the zwift ride. Can anyone help with advise.

  10. Like always, top notch review. It would be great if one can purchase just the handlebar. In my case, I have a dedicated frame for indoor training, I also have the click and cog. I don't need to buy a "Zwift frame", but the handlebar with all the controls, I'll go for it.
