Yes, it looks like you did pretty good. That front tire should be carefully inspected and likely replaced, it looks pretty old. Take 20 minutes and an old tshirt and clean up that drivetrain. Nice bike. Should serve you well.

It was made as a road bike for fast riding though.
So it has no braze ons for racks or fenders. Depending on the climate and what you have to carry for commuting that might be an issue.
