Zero day in Dresden
After helping myself to the lovely continental breakfast that was included in my hostel rate, I began my sunny but cool 2.5km walk to the Martin Luther Statue…the meeting place for that day’s walking tour of the old town of Dresden. Just like in Prague, the walking tour was great…and the walk was a nice break from the bike.
It was very sad to learn and think about what happened there at the end of WW2…and amazing to see how the city was beautifully rebuilt since. I had no idea there were so many iconic and historically significant occurrences in Dresden…definitely worth taking the time to experience!
The walking tour was again about 3 hours long. After the tour I grabbed some lunch and coffee, then spent the afternoon strolling about some of the sites we visited on the tour, for a longer look, before the late afternoon walk back to my hostel.
Got cleaned up and went on a search for dinner along Louisenstraße…so many choices! I ended up getting an awesome Kabab from a crazy busy place not far from the hostel…it was the biggest and best Kabab I’ve ever had!
Spent the rest of the evening in the hostel cafe, sipping on a beer or two and going over the route ahead.
