The walleye is a recreationally and culturally important fish that’s native to North America. They are a somewhat secretive fish, hanging near the bottom or in dark places where they can lurk and ambush their prey. This video covers the life cycle and biology of walleye and tips for how to catch walleyes with fishing gear.

In 1998, I caught a big female weighing 5 to 6 pounds on Lake Dalrymple in the Kawartha system in Ontario. And if you can believe, it was using a 5/8 oz 3" black jitterbug fishing from shore. For that particular lake, it's considered a monster. It was before I knew you're suppose to release the big females to help sustain the population and I kept it. It's a decision I regret to this very day.
My favourite fish, I live near the Bay of Quinte in Lake Ontario, great fishery. But definitely a very pressured fish that needs some help from us outdoorsmen.
I live on the southern tip of lake huron right where it flows into the St Clair River. This area from the river mouth all the way down river is a fantastic walleye fishery. It is stocked annually but i have to say i think fishermen and local commercial fisheries do the most harm here. Some times of the year, especially spring, people are lining the river and taking home wayy more than the limit. Plus the commercial gill-netting catches thousands per day.
Notice the area code. Only tagged fish i ever caught was 5" shorter and weighed a couple pounds less than the last time it was caught. LMAO.
Walleye could kick a basses ass any day.
Thanks good information
Jig and minnow all day and night long here 😊
Really good information I was a little skeptical though because we have a garrison ND to with a giant walleye statue!
Walleye arent Perch.
Hello you video you ok 🎉🎉 Đăng ký 🎉🎉 OK you Thank ❤❤
Pickerel taste like chicken, it's crazy how good they are if cooked correctly.
can. you do one on lake trout and musky
I've caught several but never a large one. But the taste is excellent and I would love to catch several on the same fishing trip.😊
We caught 8 a piece in the South Channel Michigan in less then 2 hours
Just caught my first Walleye in Montana a few weeks ago. They are rare in that part of the state from what I heard. Absolutely delicious. Don’t think they have them in Ca. Any chance you have Saltwater videos or tips. Gonna start fishing the bays in San Diego where I live. Would love any advice. Also your videos have helped out so much bass fishing. I’m watching these and others to be more diverse. I find I’m buying mostly Bass bait but want to be all around. But have no clue what to get or do. So these help. Ty sir for your help and support. 🙏🏻
Buddy's I caught me a 15 lb Walleye on South Holston Lake back in 19 and 88. Hit made my cousin Wencel so mad he throwed his rod and reel in the lake and jumped on that motor (we's on a little jon boat with a 15 HP motor on it) and hauled ass to shore. He's a screamin' along the way that he hooked that Walleye first and then it jumped over to my bait. He jumps outta that boat, runs to his truck and blows dust outta there. I hadda walk home. I hain't spoke to Wencel since that day.
FANTASTIC video. Ty! Great footage and info. Sweeet

Nice video!!
😅😅😅❤❤❤😅😅😅
2:15 that’s amazing
Hey just a random question. Do you think the zoom tiny fluke would work well for walleyes?
It's 3" long. About the size of a Zman Ned rig, just much slimmer profile and minnow shaped.
I'm from Oregon and I want to learn how to target them because they're invasive here.
YEAH THE MINNESOTA DNR STOCK LAKES HEAVILY WITH MUSKIES !!!! WHY ?????? THEY ARE EATING ALOT OF THE WALLEYES
Also, no one wants to eat bass. The lake we fish here in ND is seeing an insane amount of smallmouths and that doesnt bode well for the lake.
There’s no way becomes pray for bass
Thank you guys for liking my comment
Bass are taking over because people throw them back. They keep walleye to eat.
This was an interesting video. They have similar habits as their larger European cousin. Regards, fisherman from Finland
Clear, concise, informative. Thank you!

isn’t that a bass?
Since you showed Garrison, MN in your video, you should mention that the Walleye population is decreasing due to the local band of Ojibwa is allowed to net them.
