Need a new bike I dig these two! Had a few canyons, always wanted a Commencal. I want to do enduro and go to the bike park thoughts?
Canyon Torque DH CLLCTV – a quick summary
frame and company:
I've ridden a few Canyons over the years never had a problem with their bikes only them ( customer service etc) really love the colours on this bike especially! Never saw a bike frame like this which really attracted my eyes, I happen to love a white bike and purple would/is a lovely secondary colour. Also love canyon frames and never had a snapyon experience, fingers crossed!
Suspension:
I've personally always ridden Rockshox never fox. Always a coil rear as well as it just looks cooler and in my opinion better feeling then air. As I said never fox but my buddy has the same fox forks and rear shock as the Commencal and I fell in love With the fork but I'm a bit iffy on the air shock. And that fork looks crazy 190 mm travel might be a bit much though and a double crown… I don't know
Sram/mechanics:
I'm half and half with sram as I've ridden sram and shamano, and well I have mixed feelings I prefer sram drive train but prefer shamano breaks so I'm not as bothered. but the 7 speed cassette is small even for someone who likes smaller cassettes (Usually a 9 speed) but 7 might be better as it will have a thicker/bigger chain No? Cranks – I love no other words. Wish it had a dropper though! It's also nice it has a chain guard
Tires and wheels:
Maxxis – same tires I always run. But never ridden a sun ringle rim and I don't know what to expect I usually have dt swiss and have no complaints. It doesn't help thst the sun ringle ones look pretty ugly.
I'll probably be changeing everything on the cockpit eventually and seat so I won't go into detail.
But it looks like a downhill bike also has Dh in the name but it's listed as a Enduro on canyons website (what I want) thoughts?
Commencal Clash Essential Pure White 2026
Frame and company:
I'm not sure on the frame quality on commencals or what their company's like so feel free to tell me. Ive just always wanted a Commencal for some reason but never got round to send I was planning on making the stem and grips etc blue and pedals to do a white and blue theme. The branding is very tasteful and looks great.
The travel is just right but that air shock… Should I go fox?
Shamano/mechanics:
As I said before I prefer sram drive train but shamano breaks. So the shamano drive train especially the 12 speed is looking not so good on the brightside the breaks look great the discs look nicer as well.
Wheels/tires:
Same old for me, Maxxis and dt Swiss so all good hopefully.
Looks like what I want, nice enduro.

Closer look at the Commencal ^

Closer look at the canyon ^
You’ll hate using a 7spd DH cassette for any uphill riding. If you’re set on an Enduro bike then you’re looking at the wrong Canyon model.
These are 2 different types of bike? Yes the DH bike doesn’t have a super useful cassette. Because it’s a *downhill* bike.
Are you just going down hill? Get the downhill bike
Are you going uphill? Don’t get the downhill bike
Neither of these are enduro bikes, they’re freeride/bikepark bikes. If you ride more park, get the canyon. If you ride more enduro, look into the commencal meta as opposed to the clash.
White bikes look sooooo damn good. I’d go with either one of these personally.
I have a buddy that got the Canyon, now he is 100% dependent on cable lift, it is a pain to “pedal” on a DH rig, especially in the mountains. Get the Commencal, it can do 90-95% of the Canyon but it is way more practical overall
If you want to even do pedaling once a month get the Commencal, end of story. I know people who have tried pedaling DH bikes and it does not work.
You have to first find exactly what use you will be doing with your bike, if you ride park once in a while and the rest of the rides you need to pedal you *need* a bike with a pedaling seating position and low gears, not the DH
My brother/sister in wheels and cranks, those are two different types of bikes.
Also at the end of the post you said you want an Enduro Bike, so why are you even considering a DH bike ? DH bikes are not meant to be pedalled up while you can atleast winch yourself up a hill/mountain on an Enduro. Sure an Enduro is not going to be as good as a Trail or a XC bike in terms of going up, but you can atleast do it. But a DH bike ? Good luck with that.
You would NEVER take a DH bike anywhere that’s not chairlift or shuttle access.
The profile shot on the enduro is sick
Get the Commencal its more enduro and can have a blast at the park as well
I don’t think you understand what a downhill bike is.
Go to your local bike shop. Fuck direct to consumer
One is an enduro the other is like a dh/park rig. Two very different bikes. I guess you could get the clash and put a single grown on it though.
stay the fuck away from Canyon. Awful company
Commencal. For sure.
I just bought a canyon torque cf7 and had an issue where they over tightened one of my suspension bolts and it backed out a little tiny bolt from the carbon frame on one of the sides. I reached out to canyon and there support team was so fast on the case it was impressive several emails back and forth offering to give me a brand new bike because of the issue but io didn’t want to since the amount of time I had into it with a full ride wrap kit. My local bike shop was able to get the screw socket back in and fixed it and you cannot tell now! they offered me $150 to have the shop fix it and it only cost me about $30, they also gave me $100 to their apparel and accessories site for the inconvenience. A lot of people have said they have had negative experiences with canyon support but that was my experience.
Is neither an option
Marin or polygon don’t make anything that interests you lol?
If something **brakes** it will slow down, but if it **breaks**, it won’t work anymore.
if you’re a downhill only, the Canyon.
