  1. I own a Rift Zone 3 27.5 its an amazing bike within its class. The Honzo is a legendary bike within its class. Both are good bikes but an FS will take you a little further in the long run.

Rift zone is a killer deal new. As others have mentioned lots of frame failure reports. If going that direction I’d try for a warranty and fresh suspension. That honzo is sexy af!

One is hard tail one is full squish….

    That should answer your question.

    I own both.

That honzo is probably nicer than the Marin but that rear suspension makes all the difference.

  4. I would get the Kona, I know a FS is tempting but the parts on it are not great and you will be in and out of the bike shop more often.

Also as others have said Marin frames are not the most reliable so there is that going on as well

i feel you on the hardtail route. when i was on a budget, the honzo was a solid call. you get better components for the price compared to a cheap FS. i’d grab a [dropper post](https://featherab.com/shopit?dropper+post) right away since hardtails need it more on descents. also some [tubeless tire kit](https://featherab.com/shopit?tubeless+tire+kit) to drop weight and avoid flats. that combo makes a hardtail feel way more capable without breaking the bank
