The madone looks awesome. It’s a pity trek dropped this look from their new bikes.

I have tried an argon 18 myself, that thing was flying on flat roads, was very comfortable and gave me a smooth ride.
Would recommend it all day over the trek

The brakes on the madone will be a hassle to have serviced. I’d probably go with the argon

propietary rim brakes and “old gen” groupset for the madone
the argon 18 is way better option

I’m biased because I have the exact bike. But I love my madone. I bought it right before the new frame came out and at the time I was kinda pissed. But it’s a great bike. I’ve had zero issues with it. And it’s very fast if that’s what you’re going for. Comfortable in all conditions.

I know nothing about bikes but I’d say “nice bike” when I see that Trek bike passing by. Wouldn’t even care for the other one

The argon is objectively the better bike here but the madone just looks beautiful

The Madone looks the business of course but I would choose the Argon because of the disc brakes and di2

The argon18 no question. no only is it better components including disk, its rare enough that you’ll stand out. – argon18 owner myself.

Disc breaks. Always choose the disc breaks.

Carbon rim brake user here. They work, but you’re gonna wish you had disc brakes. The Argon also has a pretty decently sized derailleur cage, so it will be compatible with bigger cassettes if you ever find yourself itching for more. It’s also 12 speed.

The Argon 18 would not normally be my choice, but this iteration of the Madone was a PITA. Those brakes can be difficult. I did not buy a Madone until they came out with the disc version.

Not the trek, worst bike I’ve ever owned

I had that exact Gen 6 Madone for a few years, but with Red Etap. It’s not as dramatic to live with as people say. BUT, I’d pick the Argon18 based on the disc brakes alone. Much more future proof. But damn that Madone loved to go fast.

Argon by a landslide. It’s a good deal too.

I have the Krypton and absolutely love it.

I wouldn’t pay that much for the Madone, and wouldn’t be interested in the Argon18 at all.

Rim brakes and carbon wheels are fundamentally at odds with each other. Your braking performance will be subpar, you will damage your rim, and in wet weather good luck braking quickly. Argon 18 is the right choice here.
