A teenager who rode an illegal e-bike that knocked down and killed an 86-year-old great-grandmother on a zebra crossing has been jailed for six years and nine months.
Billy Stokoe, 19, was under the influence of cannabis when he collided with Gloria Stephenson while riding an unregistered and defective electric Sur-Ron bike on the B1286 Burdon Road in Sunderland, on 16 May last year.
He held his mobile phone in his left hand despite the left-sided brake being the only one that worked, Newcastle Crown Court heard, and rode for half-a-mile in that manner.
Stokoe admitted causing death by dangerous driving.

Video I saw he was stood with the victim in a great deal of distress. Not exactly what I would call hit & run.

Why would you give his phone back, you saw what he did and was about to do, and then did ride off leaving this poor woman to die heart breaking.
So the worst that can happen to illegal ebike riders is that the bike might be scrapped? That can't be right. Tweets are punished more severely than that.

The british judicial system SUCKS. The guilt are given protection while the innocent can be sent to prison for speaking out, getting angry and protecting themselves. We have the same weak judicial system in Australia. I would love to change the law system. I would have a book with to lines guilty or not guilty. If the criminal is asked are you guilty and he says no I would say guilty. If the criminal is asked are you guilty and he pleads yes I would say I agree. There would only be life sentences for any sort of death due to drugs or anything else, I would clean the country up. I just wish God had made me a real judge or one to change the laws to put these nuts behind bars!
