Cycling to work in the rush hour is getting easier thanks to more and more protected cycle lanes popping up. The C4 cycle route from Deptford to London Bridge is one such example that has contributed to London’s cycling boom. Large parts of the route separate riders from the road, making it safer and easier to cycle into town.
On this journey, we discuss topics like route planning, the need to look out for pedestrians and other riders, and the importance of staying alert when passing the many side roads along the route that cross the cycle lane.
I hope this film helps you reflect on how you cycle! PLEASE SHARE the film with anyone you know who is thinking about cycling to work for the first time!

IMPORTANT NOTE ON HOW YOU RIDE:
The channel will show videos of me cycling that intend to stimulate reflection and discussion on how we ride so we can all develop as riders.
I cannot take responsibility for how you ride after you watch the videos. The cycling shown may not be suitable for all situations. Remember that you may need to be flexible when you ride and you should always adhere to the rules for cycling in your area. Cycle training with a qualified instructor can be invaluable, whatever your level of experience, so check out options in your area. If you or your workplace would like me to deliver training for you, then please get in touch via email.

Morning!
From Jasper- uncle Barny- I love watching your videos 🚲
🤙🏽⚡️🤟🏽⚡️👌🏽
This is a route I do fairly regularly. Coming from sidcup which has no cycling infrastructure it is just lovely to be on a safe cycling route.
Agree that the Surrey Quays part is the slowest section of the route, and the number of cyclists jumping red lights at 02:58 is one of the reasons I made this video: https://youtu.be/I6mVNle2i5Y 😄
The Surrey Quays section is a bit of a mess. It took TfL years to reach the construction stage because it sits right on the border of Southwark and Lewisham and neither council wanted to deal with it. Glad it's finally complete, even if it is complicated.
Have tried a rear view mirror in the past to see if they are worth recommending to your viewers? They CAN be useful. They may stick out a bit and may be awkward in narrow gaps but I've found them pretty useful.
Feels like everybody is racing there – very different behavior to Europeans, very similar to the Americans. This could also be a reason why you don’t see many kids cycling in this video, like in other countries – if other cyclists will slow down, you might see an uptick, from those feeling like it’s dangerous
My main issue is some cyclists (aggressive men normally), who on a busy route (the one past the thames at Westminster is worst for this), who overtake on one side of the double lane and then cut really fast and extremely close to you if you are on the other side, often meaning if you don't take action they will presumably just slam into you. Although most of the danger is from cars, there is some education of certain people on two wheels needed too.
4k is appreciated!
