How to reach eibsee and zugspitze ?

Start at Munich Hauptbahnhof (Munich
Central Station). Take a regional train (RE or RB) to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Get off at the station and make your way to the nearby cogwheel train (Zahnradbahn) station . This route is known for its breathtaking beauty. (especially in winter) The journey takes approximately 30 minutes and costs 4 euros with the deautchland ticket. There is also an option to take the bus no. 3 & 4 to eibsee lake in every two hours.

After you finish walking the lake take a cable car ride to the top of Germany . You can also purchase a full day ticket to Zugspitze from garmisch and It will cost you 62 euros for the round trip which also includes your trip to eibsee. Enjoy some breathtaking views while you’re there !

  1. I had a 49 Euro Deutsche Bahn ticket from Munich. I know I can use it to travel to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, but I'm unsure if it's valid for Eibsee as well. If it is valid, could you provide information on which bus or train I can take to Eibsee and cost? Additionally, from Eibsee, how can I reach Zugspitze, and what is the round-trip cost to go Zugspitze and fZugspitze return Zugspitze to Garmisch-Partenkirchen?

  2. Fantastic video, crisp and concise with all the relevant info. I was hoping you could help me with a few queries as I am planning to visit in December:
    1. Would Eibesse or Zugspitze remain closed on Dec 24/25 for Christmas?
    2. Is there generally a big queue for the cable car to Zugspitze from Eibesse? Also, how far is cable car from the lake?
    3. From what I have understood, the 62 Euros ticket includes cogwheel train journey to Eibesse + cable car ride to Zugspitze and then back to Eibesse, right? So just gotta book one ticket in that case after Garmisch?

    Thanks in advance!

  3. I'll be in Munich from 10-14 Octobe, thought of including this in the trip. Are the busses, trains and cable car still running? Or is it less frequent during that time?
