[Ep. 1109] Finland’s longest and tallest bridge, the Kruunuvuorensilta — or Crown Mountain Bridge — is designed only for walking, cycling and light rail. The new bridge in Helsinki is 1.2 kilometers long, its pylon rises 135 meters above the Baltic Sea, and it connects new urban developments with the city center, cutting the distance in half.

Hey we have new bridge in Prague that also isn't for cars but there is no dedicated bike path – there is only a shared walk/bike path which is often obstructed by people waiting at the tram/bus stop or you have to cycle in the lane with busses/trams 🙁 Really this is just another example how pathetic czech government paid from our taxes is
This makes me impatient for when the 6km cycle road gap between Ķekava and Pulkarne will be filled so I cant cycle from Balduane to Rīga without having to ride on the highway.
Thus far they are only building the first 3km from Ķekava past Rīgas bypass.
30km in 1 direction is still too far to comute by bicycle, but should the bicycle road be build for the full length one day people will definetly ride on it every once in a while for tourisms sake.
Rail Baltic being finished will enable people to take the train, and seeing as thats behind schedule Ive no idea which will be done first.
But yea, Europe building more bicycle and electrified rail infrastructure is what we need to rid ourselves from depending on oil autocracies in Asia.
Africans would be laughing at the "problematic" joint. What a beauty!
Lovely. The more I learn about Helsinki, the more I want to go there. Seems like a nice place to check out.
