Here's a new build that I just finished. It is presumably from around 1989 judging from the parts. It's it had some pretty unusual components but it has been upgraded with some more modern (well, from the nineties still lol) parts for better functionality. The rear U-brake is still there and works surprisingly well.

    Bike brother! I also have a grey gt with a seatstay u-brake that I thought I finished today but every time I rode around my yard I noticed the u-brake was not working well and after re tensioning and tightening the shit out of all the pinch bolts involved multiple times… I finally realized that my compressionless housing did the one thing it wasn’t supposed to… compressioned.. so almost done.. just need some more housing and probably a new cable too since I crushed it at the pinch bolt because I thought it kept coming loose
