Buckshot gravel race in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada.

Rain, sunshine, snow, angry dogs, mud, hike-a-bike, swoopy pavement descents down the side of massive plateaus, you name it, this had it. What a beautiful experience. Now I'm going to sleep for the next three days.

Bike setup was my Lauf Seigla, 2.2 Dubnitals on Light Bicycle WG44 wheels, Eagle XO Transmission 10-52 * 40. Custom framebag, Ortlieb seat pack. Carried a bivvy and tarp for (very brief) sleep, as well as a dry change of all my kit, plus a down jacket and rain jacket.

  1. Dayum man, that’s a big chunk of riding at once. I’ve done 200+km plenty of times and have done 3000+m some number of times but nothing like that. When I was younger and much dumber I did a 22 hour day of hiking / trail running, something like 50+kms and 3500-4000m of elevation and a lot of bushwhacking and off trail, perhaps my dumbest ever bit of endurance performance. Went to sleep in the back of my truck at like 3-4am and woke up at like 2pm in a lake of sweat 🙂

  2. Strong, congratulations! Are you happy with the bike and especially the wheels and tires?

Is that the stone from the movie 5th element? Did you find the other 3 stones?

  4. Sounds like fun! Of course very type 2 fun, but this honestly sounds more appealing than the ~15 hour 315km road event I’m doing next month. I’d love to spend an overnight in the middle getting some sleep and have more challenging terrain to make it interesting. Endurance training for this event sure has me interested in epics like you did! Maybe a little more sleep and comfort though, even if it adds some weight.
