  1. I think it’s under mentioned(?) how much a 2nd place means for the UCI points etc, like yesterday Leknessund was happy to pace with the UAE guys because a 2nd place is huge for UNO-X. I think the same thing applies when Decathlon pace. A bunch of Giro 2nd places and securing 2nd in GC is huge for them.

  2. We raced Central Park yesterday with a few UCI guys (Saturday) – we’ve got about 10-12 races a year. It’s a great time. The Gran Premio course i just over the George Washington Bridge which is the most popular long ride route for city cyclists. Go Mets @Patrick

  3. Today’s tactics highlight why people dislike watching Jonas race. He was, most likely, going to win regardless. Just pull through man.

  4. As much as annually I'm looking forward to Giro, as it's my favourite race. The field was weak to start with due to many riders being injured. While also riders like Tiberi, Del Toro, Uijtebroeks, Seixas I'd argue should've gone to the Giro instead.

With the first few days in Bulgaria the field getting further depleted of talent. This Giro's excitement is going quickly down the drain.

Vingegaard if he doesn't fall is going to win the Giro seemingly without a true challenge. After tomorrow 3minutes likely on Gall, while Hindley will probably be on 5+. Just like Eulalio he hasn't shown that he can follow Vingegaard. VLAB if they desire so, can win every summit finish.

    (Minutes are on Vingegaard)
    UAE: everyone crashed out
Bahrain: Eulalio trying to contest a top 5, with Buitrago crashing out.
Trek: Gee already on 4 min
    Ineos: Arensman 2.5min, Bernal 4min
Bora Hansgrohe: Pellizzari 3min, Hindley 2min
    Movistar: Mas disaster
    Jayco: 3min

Sprinting with Andreasen, Magnier, Groenewegen, Milan might still get interesting.

  5. 1500W for 50s really Patrick ? You would beat Magnier in a sprint right? Do you mean 15s (which would also be crazy) ?

  6. question about the fueling: how does raking say 80g of carbs every hour play together with a goal of losing weight from working out? Is it at odds with eachother or is it unrelated? Jus

  7. I watched the whole day and enjoyed it all – in the first 100km there was lots of action shutting down attempts at a breakaway and then once the road started going up (& down at times) it got very exciting.
One takeaway to think about is that Felix Gall clearly a top climber with tons of stamina and not far off the form of Jonas, AND he will almost certainly be the super-mountain domestique for Paul Seixas in the Tour and if he is still on this form Gall will be a better super mountain domestique for Seixas than Kuss will be for Vingegaard.

  8. Retired and no friends, I’m either cycling, watching cycling, or watching lantern rouge. Adds up to about 40 hours a week.

  9. Hey guys, could you at some point maybe discuss why Gall is such a bad TT rider? Or maybe someone here has an explanation. Because I don’t get it. He has the perfect physique for a GC/TT Rider like a Dumoulin, Wiggins or Thomas – they’re all a similar weight and height. Why is he not better? He obviously has a big engine and can pace himself, so in theory he should do alright. It shouldn’t be a problem that a bit more TT training and maybe 2-3 kg more muscle couldn’t solve?!
