I hate frame-mounted u-locks! It looks ugly and totally ruins the asthetic of the bike.
Instead of a frame mount for the lock, get a couple of Rok Straps and fix them across the front or rear rack. Pull them tight. Cut off the excess strap length and singe the stap ends with a lighter. Carry the u-lock on top of the rack using the Rok Straps to secure it tight.
Where that bike gonna shine is when it’ll be loaded up for long rides, and so live up to its name. Only the bars leave much to be desired, like you could visit the shop and try out different styles to see which one would best fit your needs and comfort zone.

Surly should just make dutch style bikes at this point.

Get some fancy silver chainrings to match your cassette and hardware, throw a basket on each rack, load it up with snacks and put some miles on it! You can probably find a giant Bluetooth speaker to rest right in that Jones bar too!
