Trek verve equipped 9 gear 17,8kg 40mm tire
Bergamont vitess 6 gent 27 gear 15,5kg 50mm tire
Both cost the same and have same hydraulic brake.
I thought the verve was more comfy to sit on but I heard that suspension is not worth it for hybrids and that it only adds weight.

None of these ideally, one with an internal gear hub for low maintenance. For a 5km commute, which is not very much, I’d have a look at a Shimano Nexus hub bike with belt. Or better yet if you can find – a second hand hybrid or trekking bike with Rohloff hub.
Edit : between these two I’d opt for the fixed fork – bergamont. Front suspension on bikes like this are a marketing gimmick as far as I’m concerned. There should be very little weight / pressure on your hands when you get the right size bike anyway.
Don’t get internal hub for such a simple commute. The suspension does make it more comfy but also more weight and things that can break. Up to you. They are both decent
For 5km on flat-ish terrain, anything will do tbh. If there are hills, I’d take the Bergamont with a 3x to get more gear range
