A bike ride to honor those who have been victims and affected by terrorism worldwide. This route is from Monaco to Nice France.
The organizations Together Stronger and V-Europe host these rides since 2021 as a way to bring victims, families and friends together to promote strength and solidarity between us all. Each ride is on a section (stage) of the Tour de France route, a day before the professional cyclist ride the route.
As a Firefighter from New York, myself and friend and fellow retired Firefighter, Adam Lake, represent the Department in support of these individuals as we get to know them, ride with them and hear their stories. We are honored to participate in such a memorable and special event.
So many peoples lives change so fast due to numerous terrorist attacks worldwide over the years. Everyone was either in their hometown tending to daily life or on vacation exploring a new city and happened to be caught in horrific attacks. Some were here in NYC for the west side truck attack in October 2017. They have lasting physical and emotional effects from this and it is important for us all to embrace them, support them and bond with them. The world and all of us living in it deserve peace and protection of innocent people from harm. These organizations bring awareness to this and work with local governments to promote safety for all citizens.
