Hi all – hoping for some assistance…I've emailed Brompton but they have neglected to reply.
To be clear – I am a novice when it comes to bike parts. Learning, but still haven't got much knowledge. I bought the following parts to go alongside my new P Line Electric:
I took both in yesterday to get fitted, only to get a phone call from the shop telling me that the two parts weren't compatible with each other. One or the other could be fitted, but not both. I went back and picked up the bike and still have the two parts.
My question is – is there a replacement superlight crankset for a P Line electric which will let me use the replacement electric bottom bracket? I spent £250 on the crankset I have, but plan to exchange it for the right one.
Any tips would be appreciated please…I know it might be obvious to some but clearly not me!

Per Brompton’s website you can contact support via a form and can take up to 3 biz days for a response. I’ve always gotten one, sometimes more quickly sometimes 3 biz days … as recently last week.
You might schedule a video call to discuss your problems and find the right parts … and have a discussion with a Brompton mechanic … I recently did this as well and have done a couple times. They follow up the call with a summary email after a couple days too, so you can keep discussing via email till resolved.
And, spoiler alert: their parts website & info to find the right part for your bike model & stocking inventory is CRAP!
The electric uses a square taper BB and the superlight uses the supplied axle based style BB so it’s not compatible. I’m pretty sure almost all square taper cranks are aluminium so they don’t get that much lighter. Ive personally never looked into lightweight square taper cranks because if you really want to go lightweight you would ditch the square taper bb so you can get carbon cranks.
So yeah if you’re looking to reduce weight I don’t think the crankset is a great place to start.
What you bought needs an external BB. So the shop is correct.
H&H makes a high end crank for the Brompton. Not sure how much weight you’d save.

You cannot fit the super light crankset onto any electric Brompton they are not in anyway shape or form compatible. You can only fit square taper cranks onto an electric Brompton.
